Uploading drill content
If you have content available in an electronic format that you would like to use in Drillster, it may be possible to upload it directly. Drillster supports the following import file formats:
- Drilldown format
- Comma separated values (CSV) — download an example file
- CSV Excel worksheet — download an example file
- IMS Question and Test Interoperability (QTI)
- QuestionMark QML v3
- WRTS 1.0 XML — download an example file
- WRTS 2.0 XML — download an example file
- Hot Potatoes JQuiz (.jqz) — download an example file
- Moodle Quiz XML
The best results are achieved with a UTF-8 character encoding. If you are using MS-Excel to export spreadsheets to CSV format, please select the “Windows text” CSV variant.
Use of answer feedback with CSV uploads
The CSV format that is understood by Drillster does not have built-in support for answer feedback. However, there is a workaround to properly store answer feedback coming from a content upload using the CSV file format.
This CSV example file with feedback contains a drill including positive and negative answer feedback. When importing this file, the answer feedback is interpreted as an alternative answer set. It looks like this in the editor:
In order to convert the answer set to actual feedback, select "Convert / Reorder answer sets…" from the top left-hand menu:
This brings up the panel to allow reassignment of answer sets. Select the "Feedback" from the left-hand column by clicking on it. Next, click on Feedback in the right-hand column. Click on the "Convert" button to execute the action.
The result is that the feedback is now in its correct place:
